"...we believe that women should receive adequate support and education before and after childbirth..."

Mission Statement

Parenthood Psychology Practice is a mental health practice that specializes in supporting new and expectant parents. Adopting the European health care emphasis on perinatal care, we believe that women should receive adequate support and education before and after childbirth without having the added demand of leaving their home. Our goal-oriented approach includes psycho-education, emotional assessments, supportive goal-directed psychotherapy, short-term couples therapy, crisis intervention and lactation consulting.

As mothers and psychologists, we were surprised by the mix of emotions we felt after the birth of our children and the lack of professional services available to new mothers. Often, feelings accompanying childbirth can be overwhelming and debilitating. During a time that is often characterized as "the most special", a large majority of women are overwhelmed by the hormonal, physical and emotional change that they have just endured. In addition, most are unable to leave their newborns to take care of themselves. Consequently, we have made it our aim to support women through this period by offering guidance, information and reassurance allowing each mother to grow into her new role as a parent.
